President's Message

Welcome to the Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival. The directors and chairs are excited with the prospect of putting on another premier event. Speaking as a paddler, I myself look forward to our Nanaimo festival. We are blessed in Nanaimo with a beautiful piece of water in a gorgeous park. The spirit and camaraderie of Dragon Boating is unbelievable, the friendship laughs and smiles before the race, the fierce competition for all skill levels during the race and finally the friendship and laughs after the race. These factors make Dragon Boating unique in the sporting world.

The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival Society goals and commitments continue to be to raise money for cancer diagnostic equipment at our local hospital. All net proceeds go directly to the hospitals so ours is a great event to support.

Thanks to the city of Nanaimo for the use of the park, thanks to all the volunteers who make this weekend happen and finally our sponsors. Without the support of all of these people we couldn't operate.

So come to the Nanaimo festival, get wet, laugh and have a great time
