The 11th annual 2013 Save On Foods Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival will take place July 5th -7th and once again promises to be the best and biggest ever - more teams, more festivities and more to celebrate at Nanaimo’s most popular summer event.
Teams from all over BC and the US will take part in the 11th annual Save On Foods Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival -- a weekend of competition, camaraderie and celebration on Nanaimo's waterfront. Come celebrate with family and friends during this great event and help us continue with our goal to raise money to fight cancer locally!
Recognized as Nanaimo’s most spectacular summer festivals, the Save On Foods Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival will be a true celebration of our diverse and beautiful city, attracting over an estimated 30,000 people. Our goal this year is to host 80 Dragon Boat teams and to continue highlighting Nanaimo as a premium destination for our competitors.
Festivities begin Friday July 5th in the afternoon with the colourful Awakening of the Dragon Ceremony and Chinese Lion Dance, the Festival will continue with two more days of non-stop entertainment on the Main Stage, fabulous food and shopping, and of course, Dragon Boat racing of the highest calibre.
Admission is free to the general public so what’s stopping you? Come on down to the waters of Nanaimo Harbour and celebrate with us!
