The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival Society is unique as it donates 100% of the net proceeds to the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation to assist in improving the diagnostic and treatment process of breast cancer patients.
Since 2003, the festival has donated nearly $500,000 to the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation.
The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival Society has been designated a position on the Platinum Donor Wall at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) for donating over $150,000 to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. This recognition is given to donors who have reached this level of giving and is the highest honour of donor recognition provided by the Foundation.
“The Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival Society has demonstrated true leadership in support of local healthcare excellence,” says Maeve O’Byrne, President of the Foundation. “They join only a handful of other community organizations who have donated such extraordinary sums of money to our hospital over the years. We are incredibly grateful for their support and are thrilled to recognize them for reaching this outstanding milestone.”
We are honoured to be recognized for making contributions towards the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients on Central Vancouver Island. The paddlers, sponsors, volunteers and members of the general public who support this event are the true heroes.
